FAILED LEVY: Board To Discuss New Plan | News

The Fort Dodge School Board is headed back to the drawing board following a failed tax levy vote.
Voters did not approve a recent initiative that would have continued a current levy and added a new one to fund transportation and school improvements. Together the levies would have cost property owners about $34 for every $100,000 of property value.
Without the levies, the district says they will face a $600,000 shortfall.
The board held a meeting Monday to discuss their next steps. They hope to call another special election on the tax levies before the current tax expires in the fall of 2013.
