(Fort Dodge Press) -- The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred Friday afternoon at Butler Elementary in Fort Dodge.

According to Fort Dodge Community School District Communications Director, Jennifer Lane, a man in a vehicle approached a student at Butler Elementary asking her to help him look for his dog. According to Lane, the student did not go with the man.

A note was sent home with all Butler students and a call was made to parents and guardians throughout the district, letting them know about the incident and asking them to remind their child or children about stranger danger.
